How do I think logically when programming? I have folders that contain mp4, text, pdf, doc, mp3 files and I would like to separate them. I can write Ruby code, but it’s the logic that kills me. I've worked on this problem for 3 weeks.

This could be normal for beginners in a certain sense, yes. You should not be forgetting the fundamental logic of how to make your programs work correctly. You shouldn't be forgetting the style of languages, for example if t are procedural, declarative, use brackets or indentations, parentheses, whatever. Forgetting the syntax for certain things, the names of functions, the order of parameters, names of common libraries… that's perfectly normal for anyone at any level. In the three decades I've been writing code, these things have changed many times, and new languages and libraries pop up all the time. This is the whole point of auto-completion features you will see in most decent programming environments today. It's an admission that this problem is common, and provides a simple solution that doesn't interrupt your work. The productivity and accuracy improvements provided by these features should not be ignored. Accept that you probably need that help, and be grateful for it. It's not “cool" to slow yourself down just so you can say you don't use intellisense. It just means you're probably slower and creating more bugs.

Write on PDF: All You Need to Know

If you find yourself using auto-completion regularly, you should really consider upgrading, but don't go overboard by obsessing with these features. These are tools for your job. For example, they are very convenient if you need to type in something fast, and want to type as fast as possible. Remember that no tool is better than its trade-off. In the long run, if you use a tool, you need to use it properly. I'll give a recent example, a few months ago a colleague of mine, who was not so familiar with how programming works, found his code that he had been working on for many months was still not complete. He thought it was going to crash. He asked the person he had been working with for weeks how to fix the problem, and they gave him a suggestion that could make the code run correctly. I recommend.
