What is the toughest schedule to follow in preparation for the GATE?

Hi. Last 3 months of GATE are all about revising your concepts, doing all the possible questions you can , attempting online test series. Basically t’re the most crucial months of your preparation. I dont want to dictate out your schedule for you. That’s just going to be counter productive because everybody havs different concentration spans, memorizing techniques , approaches to problem solving. My point being , everyone’s programmed differently. So following some Toppers schedule wont make you a topper. Instead what I shall cover in this answer is the basics aka “Funda” of what kind of schedule you will need to follow. You will generally notice that your study sessions are no more than 30–45 mins on a stretch and then you just need to get up , stretch your legs or distract yourself. This needs to change. You will need to strive to get into 4 hour study sessions on a stretch. Some may argue this is counter productive but what you will essentially be doing is training your mind to focus on studying for 4 hours so that when u give GATE, the 3 hours will seem childish and easy. GATE Timings are from 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm depending on the batch you get. So you need to reset your biological clock according to that. In the 3 months , you need to be doing as rigourous study / problem solving in these 2 time slots so your mind will automatically shift into that mode after a monh or so. We are creatures of habit ( Its scientifically proven .. for more insight read Pavlov’s theory relating to humans). Using the virtual gate calculator should have started by now , but its not too late to start. Download an app for the same on Playstore ( not sure about appstore ) . When you use your phone for the virtual calculator , phone on flight mode, no music , ie no distractions . Its generally a good idea to wake up early and go for a brisk walk or a jog. What this allows you to do is to keep your physical fitness as well it makes you feel good about yourself. Dopamine is released and you feel happy and confident about yourself. Any kind of sport is also great . But try not to snatch away too many hours and dont exert yourself so hard that u get back into bed and waste half your day recovering from the exertion. Take naps in between study sessions. T help your eyes , mind and body relax from the strain you have been putting in due to the long sessions. Diet is underrated. But if youre gonna have a heavy full of carbohydrates lunch , you will be caught napping in on your study sessions. keep meals distributed 6–8 meals a day in ample proportions will help you. Caffeine is alright to have but make sure not to have too much of it. It keeps you sharp but blocks out memory, something you cannot afford . Allternatives would include homemade soup, some green tea, or if you reside in parts of India where theres only summer , a good banana/ chikoo milkshake will help a lot more than cold coffee. From an academic perspective . December onwards dedicate 1.5 hours for tests everyday. 1 hour for taking the test and 30 mins for analysis . Come January and all you need to doing is giving tests and revising from your short notes . So around 4 hours for tests everyday. Memory pegging is usually a great way to organise information in your brain. Lets say u revise X subeject today. Tomorrow you need to revise Y , but dont leave out X . Revise X and Y both . Similarly as days keep on progressing keep revising in such a pattern . Initially it’ll take time but you will realize as days progress, you wouldve reached your full syllabus revision in under 2–3 hours. Not only that you would’ve memorized which formula is on which page and which corner. Its one of the many ways our brains process information. If your have a location assigned to each formula, you will never forget it, just the way you have all the rooms and cupboard contents in your home memorized. Use pnemonics and short forms to remember tedious long lists . Even make up a story about it so you will never forget cause you have created the story. Also, you would find some of the tips in a related answer . Link’s posted below Vaibhaw Hirawat's answer to How do I study the GATE mechanical 2018 in 2 months? Hope this helps . Well, I will end with some comments from people who like to practice, test and learn. PRAKASH DATA, BHUTAN — I HAVE LEARNED THROUGH MENTAL PATHS. I WAS ABLE TO LEARN THAN I HAVE EVER LEARN… I NEVER EVER COURAGE TO DO LESS ON MY TASKS. I HAVE MADE THE PROCESS AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE AS I KNOW HOW TO.ASIANS WHO HAVE NOT LEARNED FROM US COULD NOT EVEN READ THE ANSWERS DUE TO THE INPUT AND OUTPUT ERROR. KAL SINGH — I AM VERY HAPPY TO KNOW THAT I LEARNED MORE THAN MANKIND… I HAVE SINCE LEARNED EVERYTHING THAT I NEEDED TO KNOW TO BE A GOOD STUDENT… I WILL NEVER TURN BACK TO A COACH FOR HELP WITH MY TEST.HOWEVER, I WILL GIVE UP AVAILABLE STUDENTS IF NEEDED. I WILL NOT BE LIKELY TO BE ABLE TO JOIN A COACH FOR LEARNING AN APPEARANCE IN A TEACHING POSITION..
