Being a medical students, I can assure you that buying a tablet is a much wiser decision. First of all you should be aware of your needs and requirements. The needs and requirements of a medical student for gadgets like tab and laptop can be majorly devided into 2 categories i.e. Academics and Entertainment. Let's dive deep into these requirements and try to figure out the best device for a medical student. Academics- The biggest need is for watching online lectures of coaching insitutes like Marrow and Prepladder for PG preparations. YouTube is also used by us a lot for academic purposes. Another use is making presentations specially for subjects like PSM. Note making is also another important academic requirement of a medico. Entertainment- Inspite of the neverending syllabus of MBBS we all manage to somehow take out time for OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar etc. A big screen with a great sound quality really enhances the overall viewing experience. Since now that we have addressed the needs of a medical student, now let's see whether a tablet or a laptop will be better for a medical student. Easy to use- A tablet is much easier and simpler to use as compared to laptop. It just doesn't even takes a sec to start while a laptop takes atleast a couple of minutes to start(not talking about Macbooks.) Mobility- A tablet is much easier to carry as compared to laptops. Any average tablet weighs only about 400-500 grams. Productivity- Nowadays tablets along with attached keypads are giving a tough competition to laptops when you compare and use them for light day-to-day usage. See a medical students neither has to do any sorts of coding nor have to prepare any high level presentation. Basic level of presentation can easily be prepared on tablets also. Screen Quality- Tablets have far better screen quality as compared to laptops of the same range. Sound Quality- Tablets provide a much better sound quality as compared to laptops and hence a user gets a better immersive experience on any tablets as compared to laptops while watching any content. Value for money- Any 30-35K tablet can very satisfactorily satisfies all the needs of a medico of academics as well as entertainment purpose. Whereas for the screen and sound quality of that level you will have to spend at least 60k on a laptop. Front cam quality- Tablets provide a much better front camera as compared to laptops. We all know how important has front cameras become nowadays. Only tablets can provide you the luxury of using a touch screen in the range of 30K and not laptops. So we see that for a medico, a tablet is a much economical and value for money option than a laptop. Hence my suggestion would be that a medico should always so for a decent tablet rather than a laptop. Samsung S6 lite is a very good option in Android and Apple's 8th gen iPad is an option if you want to go for iOS. Thats it.
